Prepare for the Worst - Get  the Best IT

IT Support

Justifying the cost of IT is difficult for both the IT department and business owners. The common thought is that when IT is working it looks like nothing is happening at all. However, when something does go wrong then they wonder why they are paying for anything at all. This article will help you how to prepare for the worst.

The technological voodoo that happens is not at the forefront like other parts of a business. Just about all of what happens is solving problems before they run wild. This is one of the most important parts of IT.

IT During a Crisis

Think about it like this. There are attacks coming everyone’s way every day. However, programs like spam filters, pop-up blockers, and anti-virus software stop those from becoming a problem. You aren’t even aware of the potential danger that you may be in.

IT is doing the same thing. Not everyone is technically savvy enough to understand the ins-and-outs but IT is there to help when everything goes wrong.

We have now seen how a crisis can come from anywhere. Nobody could have predicted the Covid outbreak and how it would affect businesses.

So many organizations had to switch to online portals, which is not an easy job. It’s even harder to make sure that all those portals are safe, all the data is safely encrypted while being accessible, and that there is not a long break in operations.

This is an example of IT in action. If you did not have a competent IT team then there is a good chance that you were not able to make this change. Many organizations have gone under for this exact reason.

There was another outcome that came from the Covid outbreak that affected IT teams across the world. New phishing attacks were coming out and many people were succumbing to these attacks. Now IT teams have to set up walls against these attacks and help train people on how to operate safely out of the office to stop harmful programs from getting in.

Disaster Recover Keeps your Operation Going!

Another crucial part of the IT process is having a disaster recovery plan in case everything does go wrong. They are the ones who will make sure that your business does not go under and lose everything after an attack.

It is common for owners to get mad at IT for letting an attack happen in the first place.

“How could you let this happen! What do I even pay you for!”

More often than not though, the attack was not let in by IT. It was caused by improper online etiquette from others on the team.

Now it’s time for the IT team to save the day. They are the ones who have to stop the attack from spreading, and possibly enact a disaster recovery plan if things get bad enough.

This is why you have IT around. They are like an insurance company after a crash (although getting insurance for lost data, or cyber-attacks is HIGHLY recommended). They are the ones you reach out to when you need a problem resolved.

IT is there to help you when disaster strikes. Having a strong IT team is one of the best ways to set yourself up for success when the world around you burns. They are the superheroes that will make sure you come out unscathed.
