POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Systems Engineer will work as a member of the service delivery team to provide best-in-class IT services to our clients. This position must maintain a prompt schedule, a polite professional demeanor, and provide excellent client service in accordance with Digital Seattle’s standards.
The Senior Systems Engineer will be an “outside the box” thinker and problem solver, who will work well in both a team setting and independently. He/she will be persistent in following up with staff and third parties to generate a culture of excellence and responsiveness. This individual is upbeat, considers her/himself to be results-oriented, an excellent communicator, and a creative thinker with high level of attention to detail. They should welcome constructive feedback as a tool for growth.
The Senior Systems Engineer must adhere to internal Digital Seattle policies and meet the position description below. In addition the successful applicant must be able to meet performance metrics that will be developed, adjusted and agreed from quarter to quarter based on previous performance and to further the company’s goals.

Position duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Clearly and effectively communicate technology concepts through written and verbal methods to people with varying degrees of technical comfort.
- Provide day-to-day support for users across all our clients.
- Conduct occasional onsite field work as necessitated by client and internal needs.
- Participate in the planning and implementation of projects and professional services.
- Design and configure hardware and software solutions, in the lab and in the field.
- Be diligent and thorough in the timely documentation of processes, environments, and work performed.
- Demonstrate effective, efficient troubleshooting skills and intentionality in your methods.
- Ability to work on multiple priorities simultaneously and adapt to changes quickly.
- Capable of maintaining focus, direction, and composure during high-pressure situations.
- Must be organized, detail-oriented, and have the ability to work independently with little supervision, as well as cohesively within a team.
- Adhere to documented standards and best practices, suggesting improvements where relevant.

- Perform additional responsibilities and tasks as needed to support Digital Seattle and its clients.
- Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, and lift 50 pounds without assistance.
COMPETENCY

- Customer service skills, relationship development, and crisis management techniques
- Networking concepts, including IPv4 and IPv6 standards, subnet planning, and VLANs.
- Router and firewall technologies, including IP routing, NAT, and VPN
- Microsoft enterprise system, including Windows Desktop and Server, Active Directory, Azure / Microsoft 365, Office applications, and more
- Server virtualization platforms, including Microsoft Hyper-V and VMware ESXi
- Common server functions (including DHCP and DNS) as well as Microsoft-specific server functions (including Group Policy, Print Services, File Services and DFS, Remote Desktop Services, and IIS)
- Enterprise email solutions, including Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft 365, and Google Workspace
- Database server solution concepts, including MS SQL, MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, and others
- Desktop computer imaging using WDS or other tools
- VoIP phone systems and carrier voice services (including SIP, PRI, POTS, and others)
- ISP and carrier data services (including fiber, EoC, cable, T1, and MPLS)
- Backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions
- Network/user security best practices and implementation methodologies
- IT environment monitoring and management
- Device scripting and automation
- IP surveillance and access control technologies
QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Higher education degree or certificate earned in relevant IT focus, or 4+ years of professional experience in similar roles
- Microsoft certification desirable.
